The Sentinel is now an award winning newspaper. Hrm.

Kevin O'Rourke, the president and publisher of the Sentinel, received the William F. Buckley Award for Outstanding Campus Reporting this past weekend in Scottsdale, AZ. It was presented by John Miller of the National Review at the Collegiate Network's annual Editor's Conference.

The article that grabbed Mr. Miller's attention, and that earned Kevin the prestigious award, was a little ditty titled "The Lantern Covers Up Published Plagiarism" that was printed in March of 2008.

So on behalf of the Sentinel staff and myself, congratulations Kevin. Although Gerrick Lewis and Dan McDonald threw a fit when this article came to print, it's obvious that the controversy was worth it. Hell, who am I kidding, the controversy was the best part. Nothing is more entertaining than comm school a-holes crying about FERPA laws and "matters of opinion."
